A frequent DJ and dancer at venues in and around the San Francisco Bay Area, Israel believes that music is not only what drives dancers to the dance floor, but the glue that holds the whole tango ecosystem together. His style of DJing focuses on building and maintaining a rapport with dancers and, song by song, he strives to cultivate an atmosphere in which everybody can connect effortlessly with their partners and with their community. Israel enjoys traveling and visiting other parts of the world, and getting to know dancers from different tango communities. He aspires toward continual development as a DJ, frequently adding to his repertoire and improving the quality of his music, as well as constantly refining both the technical and artistic skills of his DJ-craft.

First of all, welcome to my tango blog!

From time to time I plan on posting about topics in tango that have caught my attention. Since my specialty is DJing, these will frequently relate to music, but will certainly end up ranging into other areas such as dancing, teaching, event hosting, even community building. My intent is not to preach opinions at you. Rather, by offering my perspectives on these matters, I hope to generate some thoughtful discussion so we can broaden our mindset as a community, and make more informed choices as we navigate the muddy waters of our tango lives.

Last of all, I want to thank everybody who has contributed to my development over the years as a dancer, DJ, and human being. The lessons haven’t always been easy, but without them, I wouldn’t have anything worth sharing.
