As a DJ and social dancer, Israel believes that music is not only what inspires people to dance, but also the glue that holds the tango ecosystem together. He constantly works to improve the quality of his repertoire, and has devoted countless hours toward refining the technical and artistic elements of his DJ-craft. His style combines empathy with an intimate understanding of tango music in order to cultivate an atmosphere of freedom and enjoyment for all. For the past decade and a half, whether as a professional DJ, milonga host, advisor to student tango clubs, or instructor in the art of social dancing, Israel has always focused on supporting the growth and development of tango communities. He enjoys travelling, and regularly DJs at events on both the East and West Coast.

First of all, welcome to my tango blog!

From time to time I plan on posting about topics in tango that have caught my attention. Since my specialty is DJing, these will frequently relate to music, but will certainly end up ranging into other areas such as dancing, teaching, event hosting, even community building. My intent is not to preach opinions at you. Rather, by offering my perspectives on these matters, I hope to generate some thoughtful discussion so we can broaden our mindset as a community, and make more informed choices as we navigate the muddy waters of our tango lives.

Last of all, I want to thank everybody who has contributed to my development over the years as a dancer, DJ, and human being. The lessons haven’t always been easy, but without them, I wouldn’t have anything worth sharing.
